Blogging 101

Part 1

Blogging is an art and a passion.  Creating and posting to a blog involves writing skill and creativity.  Maintaining a blog requires dedication.  And the people who read blogs and post comments are often quite passionate in their desires.

Both blog owners and readers are artistic on their own sense, carefully choosing words that describe their feelings, thoughts, sentiments, wishes, and desires, amongst other things.

Web logs were originally used to log the progression of something.  Whether it was the progress on a programming endeavor, a vacation or journey, or just a personal journal, web logs were useful tools for many things.  Blogging began in the mid 90’s and has since saturated the virtual community.

You can create a blog without a domain name or web site.  There are many places to create blogs, Blogger and WordPress being two of the popular ones (at the time this was written).  Both of these are free of charge and easy to use.

Most of these free blogs are created for personal use.  Like a journal, people write their daily adventures or use them to share information with friends and family who are far away.

Blogging is a way for people to share with other people all around the world.

With the onset of blogging in the industry, personal journaling had been a common ground for people who wish to be known all over the world. However, not literally famous as this is not a case on being popular or well-known personality.

You can also create a blog for your web site.  Many hosting programs offer easy installation of blogging software (DreamHost offers one click installation for WordPress blogs, and will even update the software automatically for you if you wish)

Blogs are also useful for businesses.  Business blogs can increase exposure and provide a place to advertise.  Many business blogs are created to advertise the services or products of an business online in order to increase sales.

Business blogs are a good way to establish an online business presence.  They can be used to promote the company so that readers will know the company exists online.  With blogs, entrepreneurs are able to establish a name in the virtual market.  One way this is done is through articles that are useful to the reader.

Most blogging platforms have syndication (RSS) technology built into them.  This makes it easier to make money from a blog by simply syndicating it to your business’ web site, which is done through the RSS technology.
